Chris Close hails from The Auld Grey Toon that is St Andrews. Famed for its golf, university and historical connections to the earliest days of photography where Hill and Adamson took many of their pioneering images. He Studied Photographic science at Westminster University followed by a postgraduate in Marketing from Strathclyde University. Chris shoots places and people principally for the glossy editorials, design and advertising agencies. His clients include Rolex, Mercededes, Scottish Executive, Visit Scotland, Seychelles Tourist Board, Skibo Castle, Insider, etc. His portraits have been exhibited at The National Portrait Gallery in London and Edinburgh. Chris has produced a unique body of portraits of writers at the Edinburgh International Book Festival since 2009 in his recurring ‘live’ exhibition whereby he photographs the authors one day and exhibits them the next in a rolling exhibition that grows day by day.
