Join top aerospace & aerial photographer Richard Seymour in London for a fascinating lecture detailing what it takes to succeed at aerial, industrial, and urban photography. Richard will be joined by fellow photographer Mike Kelley as well as top photographer's agent James Hancock from Hancock & Handsome.

The lecture and ensuing conversation will consider the main techniques around aerial work from both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft, the dos and don’ts of aerial, industrial, and urban photography and ways to insure you are prepared and ready to make the most of your work and time. You'll also learn about ways to successfully market and sell your work in both the advertising, editorial and fine art worlds.

Richard will have on hand the latest in Leica professional series cameras and will help you understand what goes into selecting the right equipment for any given project.

It's going to be a full day with Richard, Mike, and James passing along both practical and creative information on what it takes to succeed as a photographer. You will most certainly walk away inspired and ready to move your career forward in a meaningful way.

Who is Richard Seymour?


Richard Seymour undertook an RAF flying scholarship at the age of 17. He studied Photography at the University of Westminster, and set up his first Studio in Dubai after graduating.

Richard relocated from Dubai to the UK and worked as an assistant for five years to advertising photographers, including Bob Carlos Clarke, Hazel Digby, Ron Bambridge and Martin Vallis, before going on to establish his own commercial practice.

Richard Seymour has won several awards, including Best Commissioned Advertising in the 2012 AOP Awards for his photo for SMMT taken inside the Bentley factory at Crewe, and non-Commissioned Environment at the AOP awards in 2015 for a photograph of the VW Autostadt Car Towers.

In 2013 Richard was a judge for the AOP Open Awards and has participated as a speaker at numerous photographic events including Photokina on behalf of Leica in 2012 and the AOP Seminar series in 2014.

Richard has worked closely with Leica since 2012 as a Leica brand Ambassador for the Leica S System of cameras and lenses, and his work using this equipment has featured as a backdrop at their Burlington Arcade store in London.

Special Guest: Mike Kelley

Originally from Ipswich, Massachusetts, Mike Kelley studied studio art and environmental science at the University of Vermont before moving to California and pursuing a career in photography in 2009. A self proclaimed aviation enthusiast, Mike has become well known for his aviation and aerial photography. His "Airportraits" series, for which he has become well-known, each depict an entire day’s worth of aircraft movements into single images. Mike's aerial work includes LA Airspace, a book published in 2015 which featured an aerial survey of the city of Los Angeles, and Life Cycles, which tracks the creation, use, and destruction of aircraft as photographed from above.

Mike's work has been featured in numerous publications and magazines including National Geographic, The Wall Street Journal, the BBC, CNN, Fast Company, Washington Post, WIRED, European Photography Magazine, and Fortune.
